Who do I call for a Saskatoon property tax appeal?

You do not call anyone. You file a written appeal with the City of Saskatoon's Board of Revision, using the form and deadline printed on your annual assessment notice, and you argue that the assessed value does not match genuinely comparable sales nearby, not that the tax bill simply feels high.

The Board of Revision is a separate body from the assessors who set the value, and it only hears evidence, not general complaints about the size of the bill. Saskatchewan taxes at 80 percent of a home's assessed value before the City of Saskatoon applies its mill rate, so a successful appeal lowers that base number, not the rate itself, and it only works when you bring genuinely comparable sales, not renovation receipts.

Winning an appeal lowers your assessed value and therefore your tax bill, but it says nothing about what a buyer will actually pay, since assessed value and market value are calculated for different purposes on different timelines. A downsizer selling soon should not confuse the two.

If you are planning to sell rather than stay, spend less energy on the appeal and more on an accurate read of market value. Get your hand-reviewed valuation from Joel Dyck.
