Is there grant money to help pay for an ADU in Saskatoon?

Grant and rebate programs for a secondary suite change from year to year at the federal, provincial and municipal level, so the honest answer is to check current programs directly with the City of Saskatoon and CMHC rather than assume one still exists or applies to your project. None of it changes the building permit requirement.

Financing tools are more reliable than a grant search. The Home Buyers' Plan lets a first-time buyer withdraw up to $60,000 from an RRSP toward a purchase, and the FHSA allows up to $8,000 a year to a $40,000 lifetime limit, both of which can fund a down payment or a suite build depending on how the money is used.

CMHC's minimum down payment rule, 5 percent to $500,000 then 10 percent above that price, applies whether or not a suite is part of the plan, and none of these programs replace the City of Saskatoon building permit a suite needs before it counts as legal, financeable space.

Joel Dyck can point you to the City of Saskatoon's current program list before you budget a Saskatoon secondary suite around one. Get your hand-reviewed valuation from Joel Dyck.
